The Warriors gave everything in this game in which tough and uncompromising defence was a feature from both teams. Handling errors ultimately proved the difference between the two teams as the Warriors made several unforced mistakes in their own half which gifted scoring opportunities to Newton.
The Warriors' only try of the game came when good work from the forwards, led by Matthew Clegg, gained a strong attacking position. Scott Dixon capped a fine performance by drawing in both wing and centre to put fullback Jack Thompson in for a well worked try.
Throughout the game, Ellis Pocklington and Billy Bishop tackled superbly, while James Almond’s kicking game caused the Storm several problems.
This was another game where the Warriors gifted their opponents a twelve point start but despite the score line, this was a close match in which both teams competed well and a performance the Warriors can be proud of.
Team:
James Almond, Cameron Armour, Billy Bishop, Rob Breen, Matthew Clegg, Joe Clough, Scott Dixon, Joel Hunt, Joe Kirkby, Morgan Murray, James O’Neill, Ellis Pocklington, Declan Roberts, Jack Thompson, Ollie Thompson, Josh Walmsley.
